What a lovely day this was. Getting to go learn about how wine is made at a winery in Spain truly makes me feel so lucky. I loved getting to learn about all the different parts that go into making wine and how difficult it truly can be. Prior to this visit I was really that big into wine, but now I think I’m going to be more interested in it because of how technical and intricate it can be to make.
I found it incredibly interesting that they have two different ways of growing the grape vine. It’s either sideways so that the machinery can harvest it or just straight up and down like how it originally is supposed to be. It’s fascinating to see the kind to stuff humans can do to alter a natural plant in order to have it fit their needs. I also thought it was really cool that each and every plant needed to be attached to a Unites States root in order to not get eaten by the bugs that attack the root and kill the plant. It’s such an inventive way to save the plants and to keep allowing them to grow.
Not only was the growing as well as creation process interesting but so was the consuming process! I’ve never seen such a cool contraption to drink wine. I also didn’t know that this is the way that many people still drink wine today. I was so interested in it that I actually bought one for myself so that I can show my friends and family back home! The wine tour was incredible and I had an absolutely fantastic time.
Lastly our tour of Sitges was so much fun. I learned so much and it was so cool seeing such an old seaside town. I’m constantly told in my acting classes to be looking around and taking in the things around me. And something I noticed was the way everyone dressed. Everyone had on bright colors, vertical lined shirts, and sandals or shorts. They all looked so relaxed and happy living in this town that gets sun 300 days of the year. It also blew my mind that this little town was so prominent in the film industry. That they hold one of the biggest film festivals there, and that Quentin Tarantino has had many of his films shown there. It made me want to strive to try and have my films in the future be screened there. This was an incredibly fun trip and I think I’m going to have to go and visit Sitges again in the future!
