On May 16th we started off our day visiting the Museu Del Modernisme Catala. This museum was not too far from our apartments, so we took a short walk there as a class. We actually arrived before the museum had even opened up! The Museum was not as big as I thought it was going to be, but it was full of interesting art that I really enjoyed.
The tour guide explained to us that this museum was the new growth of a social political system which allowed Barcelona to become a more developed country. Barcelona is a welcoming city for tourists and a city that wanted to find its place in the world. At the time of this museum and these artworks becoming developed Barcelona was a city that wanted to match other European developed cities. The intention of this museum was the wish of art being projected into the future! Founded by Ramon casas i carbo, Santiago Rusinal i prats, Miquel utrillo i morlius, Pere romeu i borras, and Pablo ruiz Picasso.
After the museum, at night we visited the Castellers! We got to watch people stacking. This was so fun! Castellers are towers made out of people which is a Catalan experience. The tower is made up of a bigger base and then young children who are the top of the tower. At the end of the practice we even got to be a part of the towers!
