This church is absolutely stunning inside and out! Before walking inside the church you go through a long line outside to get onto the premises. After security our class gets a history lesson on the outside of the magnificent church which is the largest unfinished church in the world. The church sits about 600 people who line up for a chance to be seated as early as 6am. When we first approached the front of the church we learned that it was designed to tell the story of the Old Testament which is the beginning of the Bible. We see statues of Mary, Joseph, baby Jesus, three wise men and more. The church building is so intricate with so many beautiful details. Once inside you are immediately hit with more detail and beauty.
The bright colored windows with the sun shining in. The high ceiling that makes you feel like there’s no end point. The large cathedral pillars that hold up the church. The Jesus, Mary, and Joseph statues that have their own platforms for you to look up too. There have been several architects who have worked on this church throughout the years due to how large and detailed the church is.
Each architect Had to have a vision, see what was left for them to go off and tell a story that was coherent with the other architect’s work while still bringing their own style to it. In the back of the church you see the story of the Old Testament being told through the details of the building. You see Jesus being crucified and his disciples weeping. You see the trader Judes being singled out for betraying Jesus. You even see the different style In architecture from front to back. Overall I enjoyed visiting the church and hope one day I can come back and attend a church service.
