On Thursday, May 18th, we embarked on a day excursion to the old town of Girona, known for its role as a Game of Thrones filming location. Although I wasn’t familiar with the series, I learned that the town was prominently featured in the sixth season, particularly during a memorable scene known as the “walk of shame.” Aside from its Game of Thrones connection, Girona was also celebrating its flower festival, with stunning displays of flowers adorning the streets and trees. Despite the prevailing drought conditions, the flowers remained vibrant and beautiful. The tranquility and charm of Girona made it a destination worth revisiting, offering a refreshing contrast to the bustling cities of Barcelona and Madrid.

Following our time in Girona, we proceeded to the Dali Museum, a surrealism art museum that quickly became my favorite during my stay in Spain. Although I wished we had more time to explore, the experience was still impactful. The emotional depth and meaning behind Dali’s paintings resonated with me. The museum itself was a dedication to his wife, and when she passed away, Dali ceased creating art as he lost his sense of purpose. Even for those who aren’t particularly passionate about art, I highly recommend visiting this museum as it offers a unique and thought-provoking experience.

The day excursion to Girona and the visit to the Dali Museum provided a captivating blend of history, culture, and art. Girona’s Game of Thrones fame and the vibrant flower festival added a special touch to the town’s appeal, while the Dali Museum showcased the profound artistic journey of Salvador Dali. Both destinations left a lasting impression, leaving me eager to explore more of Girona’s charms and immerse myself further in the world of surrealism at the Dali Museum.
