We did it! We made it to Barcelona after a long straining Junior year. Day 1 felt like it took forever because of the jet lag that ensued from the plane. I’ve never experienced jet lag like that before and I felt so unbelievably tired. One of the first things we did on our first full day was lunch at a top of the line Spanish restaurant with top of the line cuisine! There was a plethora of options with a wide variety of tapas including squid, shrimp scampi, patatas bravas and skewered tomato and mozzarella. We had two options for our main course, but I decided on Tuna which was incredible! Before we ate anything we kept saying “phone eats first” and snapped pictures of all of our food.
After our incredible lunch we had an amazing walking tour of the city! We walked throughout the city learning about its rich history. It was super cool walking through the back streets, the Cathedral of Barcelona and Ciutat Vella. Listening to our guide who was so knowledgable on all things related to the history was so informative and gave me a greater appreciation for the history of the city as well as the architecture.
After our tour we all went back to our apartments and relaxed for a little before heading back out to find dinner! My roommates and I found this incredible pizza shop not too far away and celebrated Barcelona’s national pizza week! We had a margarita, original and sausage and spinach pizza.
To end off the day we walked back from the pizza shop and hung out with some of the other students from our school around town, walked around a little bit more and called it a night! All in all it was a great first day and I wouldn’t have changed it for the world!
