SAGRADA FAMILIA;

Today was unreal. My brain is telling me that my eyes are deceiving me. I’m still in disbelief and shock. The sights we saw today were beautiful. I keep saying a different day has been my favorite day; sailing, the vineyard and Sitges, the tapas class, etc. But honestly, this whole trip is amazing so far. I’ve never been so happy to spend so much money.

The experience of seeing Sagrada Familia in person is something I’m never going to forget. The attention to detail on the outside of the church is amazing. The outside of the church tells the story of the bible, because back in 1882, when it was first being built (it’s still not finished) Antoni Gaudi wanted anyone and everyone to be able to go to church. For those who couldn’t read, they could look at the statues and the images built into the walls of the church and then understand what was being spoken about during service.

It’s estimated that construction of the church will finally be completed in 2026, and there’s a small model of the church outside to see what has been completed and what is still being built.

The inside of the church is massive. The high ceiling and light shining in through the stained glass makes it seem like it goes on forever. The inside of the church only has a few statues, and the glass doesn’t have any designs or pictures. This, according to our tour guide, was to make sure no one is distracted during service. I noticed that one side of the church has warm colors and the other has cool colors for the stoned glass, which I thought was beautiful. Pictures and videos don’t do this place justice, I was in awe the entire tour.

PARK GÜELL;

Usually, you would need to pay to get inside of Park Guell. For us though, it was already included in the price we paid for the trip. We walked all around the park, looking at the nature that influenced Guell’s work. Our tour guide walked us up to the only two houses in the entire park (we didn’t go in because it cost more money), and told us that they belonged to Guell and Gaudi.

The park is beautiful, the mosaics are beautiful to look at and take pictures of. I loved the color blending in with nature.

Once we left the park, a group of us; Baylee, Tatum, Tia, Hannah, Arianna, Erin and I went out to eat for dinner. We made our way to this really good pasta restaurant called Macchina Pasta Bar. To order, you build your own pasta plate. Hannah left early, and the rest of us went back to the apartment while Tatum and Arianna went out for ice cream.
