5/23/23-5/24/23

It’s hard to believe that these three weeks have come to an end. This experience was absolutely amazing, life-changing, educating and inspiring. There were some bumps in the road of course, but I am so glad I took a chance and got out of my comfort zone to live my dreams of traveling and visiting Spain. I immersed myself in the culture and was able to communicate in Spanish much better than I thought I would. It was very hard to say goodbye.

I woke up this morning early to go with Hannah to the US Consulate to apply for an expedited passport. I did not even know it was possible to get one on Barcelona; this entire time the school was saying the only place to get one was at the US Embassy in Madrid. I am glad we did not have to go that far. The Consulate was very interesting. They took our phones and had us power them off right away, then we were sent to a different area which we had to go outside to get to. We met a nice older family from Florida and talked with them while we waited. Thankfully, Hannah and Robin were able to fly back the day after the rest of us.

I got a little emotional at the wrap up lunch, not because the food was amazing, but because it really hit me how comfortable I got over the past three weeks. Nona, Bea and all the CEA staff were so friendly, and it felt like they were a part of the Point Park family. I became so immersed in Barcelona and the lifestyle we built here that it hit me more than I thought when leaving. The chocolate cake was also some of the best chocolate cake I have had in a while.

The flight home was actually super quick and comfortable, much better than on the way there. I was super excited to see my parents and get home. I hope to visit Barcelona and Spain again!

iAdios!

Erin 🙂
