My Barcelona Buddies! We went to see a local vineyard and the village of Sitges! What an eventful day! The ride through the mountains to get to the vineyard was breathtaking! After about an hour ride, we arrived and we started our tour. We first followed along to see where the grapes are grown, gazing at the rolling hills filled with all of the vines, peach trees, and almond trees! Although it was hot, I was captivated by the view and the sheer amount of farmland they had. They can make about 3,000 bottles of Cava a day during their bottling season, and sell about 120,000 bottles per year! We learned that there are three different types of grapes that go into Cava, each important for their own notes and body of the wine.
After a brief brunch, we bussed over to Stiges! Sitges has been my favorite place I have visited so far since it is such a welcoming and beautiful place. Even on a Saturday before their local music festival, it was not too busy through the back streets we toured! I found a fairly inexpensive AirBNB near the beach, so I stayed the night along with my friends Katie, Jonah, and Joey. We got some delicious food at La Oca, and Jonah tried SNAILS AND RABBIT! I enjoyed the small piece of snail that I split with Joey. Katie and I got the Catalonian style pizza with onions, peppers, olives, and sausage!
Overall, I had such a great time at both places, but Stiges was my personal favorite. From the shops, to the seafood, to the gelato, I was amazed. Enjoy some pictures of my trip! I am now a few shades darker from the Mediterranean sun.
