We arrived in Barcelona at around 9 a.m. after a long flight across the Atlantic. After everyone got through customs and got their luggage, we were bussed to our beautiful apartments close to our CEA building. It was recommended we stay up and immediately adjust to the time difference, so we dropped off our stuff and explored! We grocery shopped (there’s an Aldi’s!), had our first taste of Spanish cuisine, and eventually caught up on sleep.

Our first day with CEA went smoothly! We had our orientation and got a lot of useful information about the public transportation and general safety. We had a giant lunch together where we got to try a variety of tapas. I also had the tuna tataki as my main course, and a delicious piece of cheesecake!

We walked off our lunch on our walking tour of the city, with our awesome tour guide. We took in a lot of history about Barcelona, and saw buildings and structures that date back to the 1300s, and some even earlier! It was amazing to walk through Las Ramblas, the busiest streets in Barcelona full of vendors and great food. The cathedrals and religious buildings were so beautiful and meaningful to the people here and I would definitely go back to tour them!

All in all we had a great first day and learned so much, and now that we know the layout a little more, we can continue to explore this great city!
