We went to Paris! Our last weekend in Barcelona was a free weekend, so we had no lectures and no business visits planned. A few girls and I had been discussing traveling that weekend, and it was everyone’s dream to go to Paris, so we made it happen! We sat around at our dining room table, and booked our flights and Airbnb, and we were so excited we could’ve gone right then. To save money and some extra work, we all stuffed our backpacks full and took those with us. I actually felt like I was backpacking across Europe, and we were just bouncing from city to city. Our flight and our one hour bus ride into the city of Paris from the airport was pretty smooth, and I’m proud of us for how well we managed everything!
After we found our place, and changed clothes, we couldn’t wait anymore so we headed straight to the Eiffel Tower! We got a glimpse of it through the trees and city from where we exited the subway, and basically beelined for it. We were in awe, and so excited to see this famous landmark in person. Since we were little girls, we always dreamed of the city of Paris, and to see the tower, and there it was in front of us!
Our evening got even more exciting when, after our first meal in a local restaurant in Paris, we got on a sightseeing boat ride. Out of the whole trip, I would say this boat ride was my favorite part. With the sunsetting behind us, we floated past the Lourve, Notre Dame, and so many beautiful and historic sites in Paris. As our boat turned around and started heading back, we saw the Eiffel Tower come back in view, and then it turned 10 o’clock. If you don’t know, the Eiffel Tower sparkles for the first five minutes of every hour after dark. Approaching the tower as it was twinkling while we were on the boat was something I’ll never forget, and felt like a dream.
Of course, we couldn’t get enough of the tower, so we hung around the area and waited for the second sparkle at 11 to get some really good pictures. Afterwards, we went to another local restaurant and had drinks and dessert to ring in Erin’s birthday at midnight. How exciting that we got to share this experience and her birthday together!
So, as Taylor Swift says, we were absolutely taken by the view like we were in Paris!
