Hi friends!

I woke up and was feeling a bit better than the day before. I wanted to start my day with a better attitude so I could enjoy Madrid. Thinking back on that day I think I was feeling a mixture of homesickness, missing my boyfriend, and exhaustion. I was able to shake it off and enjoy the second day in Madrid.

We started with a tour of the Prado Museum and our tour guide was great! He was very interactive and had a lot of knowledge of the artwork and artists. I had a great time seeing some very old and classic artwork. I wish I had taken some time to walk through the gift shop because I would enjoy seeing some of the art again, but once again I kind of need a break from the group.

After a bit of caffeine, Jessie, Sophia, Sabrina, and I made our way to a big park that wasn’t too far from the museum. We wandered up a hill covered in pop-up tents selling all kinds of books until we reached the park entrance. Every pathway led to a new beautiful section of the park. My favorite part was a big flower garden with flower-covered pathways and a lily pond in the middle. It reminded me of a scene from The Princess Diaries 2.

After a bit of exploring, we noticed that our walk back to the hotel was going to be about 40 minutes, so we started the trek back. Thankfully the beginning portion of our walk was still through the park so we got to see even more. On our way back, we found a bench that is shaped like a book and I had to take a picture of it!

We had a little extra time once we got back to the hotel, so we got some food and had to try churros and chocolate before we left! It was not as good as I was expecting but not horrible. I’m definitely going to give it another try in Barcelona.

Our group met up and left for the train back to Barcelona. It wasn’t too long of a ride but when I got home it was time to pack and go to bed for our next adventure in the morning…
