Caliban Book Shop is a used book shop that specializes in rare books. This book shop in North Oakland may look tiny but it’s filled with thousands of books. The shop opened back in 1991 and has continued to wow customers with Modern First Editions, Fine Arts, Literary Fiction, Poetry, Western Pennsylvania, Americana, Philosophy, General Scholarly, Fine Press, Leatherbound and Rare Editions.

Another cool feature of Caliban Book Shop is their book shop inside a book shop. Karen’s Book Row is an additional book shop that features new feminist and uncommon books. The little shop also features an online store that has vintage books for sale. And of course, Caliban Book Shop also has a variety of used CDs and records for sale.

While hardback books are featured in the top of the store, the basement of the store is a very different atmosphere. The walls are plastered in used paperback novels in a variety of genres at very affordable prices. It’s a great place to explore if you’re looking to purchase a lot of books at once.
