Below is a collection of photos from Point Park Dance performances. The purpose of this collection is to observe trends of costuming and utilization of appearances for performance enhancement.
While looking through the archives, we pointed out a list of things that were presented but not necessarily answered right away. This list follows as:
- the difference in gendered costuming, what traits read as masculine vs. feminine
- themes and usage of color, contrasting or corresponding
- style of hair
- trends within genres of dance, jazz vs. modern vs. ballet etc.
- compression vs. freeform silhouettes
- use or lack of patterns
- repetition of costume usage through different seasons
- accommodations for POC dancers or lack of
