<\/p>\nToday, I started the greatest adventure of my life. <\/p>\n
After only 30 minutes of sleep, I was up to hop on a flight to Rome, Italy. The airport was empty when we arrived so we flew through security and got a quick bite to eat before our 6am flight. I slept for the entire time so it went by quickly.<\/p>\n
Once we landed, we hopped on the Metro to our hotel. From the start, we were astonished by how easy the trains were to navigate in Rome. Definitely a plus given we were only there for a weekend!<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
We arrived at our hotel and we were greeted by the sweetest lady who got us checked into our room. It was not ready, but we were given our keys and handed over our luggage to get taken upstairs once our room was ready. Then, we were off to explore!<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
We walked about a block from our hotel and ![\"\"](\"https:\/\/pointparksocstudent.com\/Internationalmedia\/Spain2023\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Screen-Shot-2023-05-31-at-9.28.09-AM-226x300.png\")
ended up at a massive swarm of people. So, we walked down the massive set of stairs to take a picture since that’s what everyone else was doing… little did we know those were the Spanish Steps! We found that out later when we put the landmark into Google Maps and it took us right back to that spot.<\/p>\n

As we walked around I was truly in awe. I have ![\"\"](\"https:\/\/pointparksocstudent.com\/Internationalmedia\/Spain2023\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Screen-Shot-2023-05-31-at-9.29.12-AM-225x300.png\")
never stepped foot in a city that I loved so much. We grabbed breakfast at the cutest cafe before setting out to see as much as we could before getting dressed for our next activity.<\/p>\n

At 5:00pm, we had tickets for the Vatican and the Sistine Chapel. We entered with a group and a tour guide but ultimately decided to explore on our own. We walked through the museum for over two hours and never once stopped – I wish we would have had more time!<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n
It was the most surreal thing I have ever seen, I was blown away by all of the details from the molding on the floor to the intricate ceilings. I could have walked through there for years and never stopped appreciating the beauty all around me.<\/p>\n

After we made it to the Sistine Chapel, we headed to a cute spot for dinner and got the most incredible carbonara. This was our first real taste of food in Rome and I will never get enough. We also got a bruschetta sampler plate which was to die for.<\/p>\n
But after a long day, we were definitely ready to head back and go to bed. A long but irreplaceable day. I will never forget the feeling of walking through Rome, Italy for the first time.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
