<\/p>\nOnce again we had an early morning to meet our bus for the day trip to Girona. The tour guide told us that once we got outside the city we would make a quick pitstop for our hour-long drive. Thankfully, I could pick up a coffee at our little stop and was feeling energized for the day!<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Girona was a cool town with a lot of history, old and new… we learned that Season 6 of Game of Thrones was filmed in Girona and saw some of the main filming locations. The Temps de Flores, a flower festival, was taking place in Girona this week, so we got to see the beautiful floral decorations that were adorned throughout the town. We walked through an old monastery and along the Roman walls of the town which led us to the beautiful cathedral that had amazing views. Despite the other tourists visiting for the festival, I loved walking through the quaint streets and seeing the amazing views of the Pyrenees mountains.<\/p>\n

We ended our walking tour with a surprise ice cream treat to celebrate Erin’s birthday! Her parents, along with the CEA staff, were sweet enough to plan this into our visit. We then had a little over an hour to get some lunch and explore a little bit of Girona. We had our usual tapas at a restaurant located in a plaza, and it didn’t disappoint. I wish that we had a bit more time scheduled to explore more of the boutiques in Girona.<\/p>\n
It was then time to get back on the bus and drive another 30 minutes north to Figueres, where we were going to visit the Dali Museum. Once we arrived, we rounded the corned to be greeted by a red building with eggs on top. Salvador Dali was an unusual man who created very interesting artwork, but somehow it all had symbolic meaning. The museum was busy and our tour guide moved a bit fast, but I enjoyed that she had more information about the artwork than I would have if I went alone. I enjoy Dali’s strange artwork and the fact that he is a silly man.<\/p>\n

I really enjoyed our visits for the day, but I was definitely tired by the end of the afternoon and it was a bit chilly in Figueres (due to the snow of the Pyrenees Mountains). I was ready to head back to Barcelona and get a jacket on. Our two-hour bus ride home went faster than expected and I got to read a bunch of my book. After arriving back in Barcelona I got dinner with Jessie, Sabrina, and Sophia at a vegetarian restaurant where we got amazing salads and fresh juices. I will need to visit that restaurant again in the future. I was tired from the long, busy day so I turned in for the night and got a good night’s rest.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
