Absolutely stunning!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>When the plane landed at Dublin Airport, it was around 6:00 AM on Tuesday, May 6th.&nbsp; We experienced a 7 hour flight with a 5 hour ahead time-change, making our arrival (technically) one day after we left.&nbsp; We waited about two more hours at the airport for our CEA representative, Dr. Sean Harrington, to arrive.&nbsp; From there, we rode a bus to our new home for the next 17 days, dropped our bags, and then went to the \u201cCentre\u201d for orientation.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Orientation, although an immense struggle to stay awake for (to no fault of Sean\u2019s, it was just a result of intense jet lag) was interesting and informative.&nbsp; Sean and Dublin\u2019s Centre Director, Alessandra, were both very welcoming and understanding.&nbsp; Coffee, snacks, and sandwiches were provided to help keep us awake as they gave us valuable tips and other important bits of information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Some things that were discussed include:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A brief history of Dublin and Ireland<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How to contact the CEA CAPA team<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What to do in the case of an emergency<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The different public transportation systems within Dublin<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Supplying us with our public transit cards, or Leap Cards, etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignleft size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1920\" height=\"2560\" src=\"https:\/\/pointparksocstudent.com\/Internationalmedia\/Ireland2025\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/IMG_5466-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-957\" style=\"width:265px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pointparksocstudent.com\/Internationalmedia\/Ireland2025\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/IMG_5466-scaled.jpg 1920w, https:\/\/pointparksocstudent.com\/Internationalmedia\/Ireland2025\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/IMG_5466-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/pointparksocstudent.com\/Internationalmedia\/Ireland2025\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/IMG_5466-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/pointparksocstudent.com\/Internationalmedia\/Ireland2025\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/IMG_5466-1152x1536.jpg 1152w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1920px) 100vw, 1920px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Sav (left) and I (right) in the window of our new home for the next 18 days!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>After orientation, we had a few hours to ourselves to organize our apartments, rest, and get some shopping done.&nbsp; This marked my first experience at <em>Lidl<\/em>, which I think is most comparable to an \u201cIrish <em>Aldi<\/em>\u201d.&nbsp; For my first experience with grocery shopping in a foreign country, I was pleasantly surprised at how similar and different it was.&nbsp; Some of the things that stood out to me include: the labeling on foods (provided very thorough nutrition and allergen information), the fresh baked breads and pastries in the front of the store, the prices (feels much cheaper here!), and the higher security for self-checkout that required you to scan receipts to leave the store.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/pointparksocstudent.com\/Internationalmedia\/Ireland2025\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/IMG_1074-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-955\" style=\"width:252px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pointparksocstudent.com\/Internationalmedia\/Ireland2025\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/IMG_1074-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/pointparksocstudent.com\/Internationalmedia\/Ireland2025\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/IMG_1074-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/pointparksocstudent.com\/Internationalmedia\/Ireland2025\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/IMG_1074-1152x1536.jpg 1152w, https:\/\/pointparksocstudent.com\/Internationalmedia\/Ireland2025\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/IMG_1074-scaled.jpg 1920w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>The Brazen Head<\/em> exterior, an almost medieval vibe.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>We ended the evening with an included dinner as a group at a pub called <em>The Brazen Head<\/em>, which is rumored to be one of the oldest pubs in Ireland.
