He discussed media in Ireland and how it has changed over time. Something interesting that I remember from his lecture is the Censorship Act that took place in 1923. It was passed to restrict what media the Irish Population could consume. This reminded me of the Hayes Code, a similar set of restrictions placed upon film and TV in the United States. I think that he was very well versed in this topic, and I wish that I could ask him more questions about it.

After the lecture, my main group of buds (E, Alex, and Paula) went to a local café recommended to us by Sean. Il Valentino was small, quaint, and delicious. We sat downstairs area, and I felt like I couldn’t talk because it was so quiet. I have not experienced much culture shock on this trip, but the one thing I have noticed is that we are so dang loud!! I am already self-conscious of my volume, so the stark contrast has really hit home for me.

I had a mouth-watering BLT while I was there and another Matcha Latte. You’ll notice that it is my beverage of choice lol. Oh, I also had a chocolate tart that was rich and flavorful. I have tried my best to spoil myself with little sweet treats while on this tip.

After lunch, it was time for the National Print Museum. Unfortunately, I do not have much to say about this due to me getting overstimulated and having to leave not even halfway through the presentation. I want to thank E for staying with me and helping me to calm down. You’re a real friend.

We had a guest lecture today! Roddy Flynn is a professor who works for Dublin University.
