Day 1: Welcome to Dublin!

Welcome to Dublin! Day 1 is in the books! Today we arrived in Dublin at around 5:30AM! The flight was a red eye so we left Charlotte at 5:45PM and arrived early in the morning. We were left waiting at the airport until 9AM waiting for our ride to arrive.

The view from the airplane was amazing!

Once we got on the bus, things really got started! We started by dropping our luggage off to be stored in our apartment building then headed to the CEA CAPA building to begin orientation. The orientation consisted of an overview of Ireland, the schedule and some health/safety tips. We had a break for lunch then continued on and finished early. This allowed us some time to settle into the apartments and clean up before dinner.

We all went to Brazen Head, the oldest pub in Dublin, for dinner and I enjoyed a lovely beef stew with apple strudel and ice cream for dessert. I thought the stew was amazing and was the perfect comfort food after a long day of travel. I was not much fun at dinner as jet lag and the 24 hour day was starting to really hit hard. Luckily after dinner we were set free and we headed back to the apartments to get to bed. My flat mates and I stayed up talking for a bit in an attempt to cure jet lag by staying awake until 10PM, a recommendation from CEA CAPA. I ended up beating that deadline and went to bed around 11PM after being the last shower in a 4 person apartment. I fell asleep basically the moment my head hit the pillow and the day/s were finally over!
