Day One: Arrival, Orientation, and Welcome Dinner.

I am officially in the emerald isle, and I must say, after surveying the agrarian landscape from the plane, that name fits.

After one car right, two flights, and what felt like three years, I am in a new and exciting place. When we landed in Dublin I felt no immediate change, but after experiencing my first day there, I feel both invigorated, but also anticipation for the days to come.

We took a bus from the airport to our local housing. Subsequently after dropping of our luggage we were given an introductory presentation. I know that the last thing anybody(including myself) wants to participate in after an arduous journey is a lecture, but I both understood and appreciated that time.

The presentation to me was a necessary procedure. It allowed CEA to elaborate on the ensuing days and give us some essential information about Ireland. Such as: It’s brief history, It’s counties, It’s people, and Dublins robust inner machinations.

Once the presentation was completed we returned to our housing, which in my objective opinion is more than adequate. We were given a kitchen, a living area, a bathroom, balcony, and fully furnished rooms.

We took a brief break. I showered and endured further waking hours; Sleeping at the appropriate time in a new time zone mitigates the effects of jet lag. After showering and changing clothes we went out to eat at a local pub, The Brazen Head.

The atmosphere of the pub was great; I understand why it was chosen as our first Irish establishment to visit. The medieval themed entrance and Irish flags strewn diagonally across the brick courtyard mark it as distinctly Irish and a unique spot to eat.

I look forward to the days to come and the further experiences I will be able to write about.
