Parliament today! Before going, we got briefed on the Irish form of government. The differences between the parliament and the senate, and the president’s role. We then set off for the main government building. We went through security, sat in this room for a bit, until the leader of the lower house of parliament came to meet us. He was really nice and gave us a warm welcome. The parliament building was many things before being a parliament building. It was an estate for a rich family, after that, if I recall correctly, it was a school for a while, also being a theater before becoming the parliament house for the ruling British parliament before their exit. It was really interesting learning about all the places the house used to be and all the ins and outs of the Irish government. After a wonderful tour where we saw each room, and the lovely architecture that littered the walls and ceilings, it was great. We left afterwards and I had a subpair toastie after a quick trip back to the apartment, where I finally got my glasses back! Yay! we soon headed back to CEA, where we met Martina Devlin, who is a very famous journalist in the Dublin area. She talked about her writing process for books and the research that went into them. It was a very cool lecture on the time and effort it takes for your legacy to be known and the effort you’re willing to put into something. After that I went back home after a long hard day and passed out no pictures unfortunately.
