May 14th: Day nine
Today, Kira and I went to Venice for one of our free days. We were really excited to venture further into Europe since we were already in the continent. The flights were so much cheaper flying from Dublin rather than the US, so we knew we had to take our cheapest chance we will probably every get.
Our flight was at 6:30 AM, but we decided we wanted to get to the airport at 1:30 AM since I was having trouble accessing my boarding pass and had to get it in the airport. We sat in the airport for a few hours, and eventually boarded our plane, which was a two-and-a-half-hour flight to Venice.
Once we landed, we went and purchased two bus tickets to get into the city where we started our day. We got into the city at around 11:30 AM and walked almost 30 minutes to get lunch at Pizzeria L’Angelo. Kira and I got two different pizzas, but we both agree those were the best pizzas we have ever gotten in our lives. We would definitely go back there if we ever come back to Venice in the future.
We also went to a other spots, like this bookstore Robin recommended to us, which was supposed to have cats, but we only saw one cat sadly. We browsed some other shops, stopped inside a church, and got some snacks. One of the stores we went into was the Venice Duck Store, where I bought myself an Iron Man duck and got a free tote bag, and Kira bought me rubber duck on a gondola.
After doing some more browsing and walking around, we went to go check into where we are staying and relaxed for a little bit before going back out for dinner. We have not slept in over 24 hours at this point, so we needed to lay down for a little bit to recharge before doing more walking. For dinner, we went to a restaurant called Riva Rialto, where I got ravioli, and Kira got spaghetti. We both really enjoyed our dinner, and I even got some tiramisu, because how could I not get tiramisu while in Italy. We ended our night by getting some gelato, and it did not disappoint. Mine was kinder flavored, and Kira’s was mint chocolate chip flavored.
