These Dang Dinosaurs

May 12: Dublin Zoo Trip

I was so excited for me and Mel to explore a zoo we had both never been to before. The Dublin Zoo is supposedly supposed to take 3 hours to walk through. We timed it, and we left exactly on the 5-hour mark. It was definitely one of the biggest zoos I have ever been in. It was about 20 euros a person, and so worth it.

One thing that really stuck out to me was the penguins. They were penguins that thrive in hot weather. They had the zoomies at one point to where they were zipping through the water and jumping in and out of it like a dolphin. It was absolutely adorable, as were the few baby penguins they had. We got to see the penguins being fed which was so much fun. Another thing that was cool is how close up the animals were, including ducks walking throughout the zoo. We noticed there was a line of maybe 5 ducklings following the duck around. They came so close that we actually got to feed them. The little girl with the family next to us absolutely loved that the ducks were biting her… Super strange for a child to like being bit, but it was hilarious. She said, “Can I keep letting them bite me though?” whenever they ran out of bread.

The more we kept walking around the zoo, the more annoyed I was getting. I love hearing the sounds of the animals, so every time I heard the snorting or chirping, I’d look to see what animal it was. Unfortunately for me, the zoo has animatronic type dinosaurs all around the park. As soon as I realized that was where the noise was coming from, I would lose my smile. I wanted to hear the natural sounds of the zoo, not these dang dinosaurs. I hate to admit I fell for this scheme many times throughout the day, becoming more and more upset.

After we got back from the zoo, we decided to go to the club. We wanted to see what the games were all about. We went with Ash and E around 9:00 pm. We each got a drink and waited for the performances to start. We watched the drag performances, which lasted about half an hour. Ash and E ended up leaving around 11, but me and Mel stayed for another half an hour just dancing to the music. It was so much fun dancing at the club for the first time. I will definitely be going back a few times on this trip.
