A Day at parliament

Today we went to the Parliament building, and I had no idea what to expect because I don’t know

that much about the government. Turned out to be a big deal! We couldn’t take photos, which I

was bummed about because I could have used some for bragging purposes. We walked through

some rooms and corridors, and they told us about the rich family that once lived there. The woman

of the house had twenty-one She had an affair and divorced her husband to marry the

another guy. We also got to sit in the decision room.

The blue carpet was beautiful and really stood out to me. The old dining room we saw was huge,

too. It was amazing to visit the Irish Parliament.

We also had a guest speaker who was an author, and I didn’t believe I would enjoy it as much as I

did. She provided us with information regarding her career in journalism and writing, and how

journalism has developed over the years. Something that really stayed with me was how individuals

aren’t as fascinated with longer stories anymore—everyone simply wants immediate information

on their phones. She also discussed some of what she’s experienced, such as having written an

article about a prisoner who fixated on her. It was intriguing and quite frightening. Overall, a busy day.
