IFCO & Wicklow

Today was our earliest morning so far going to IFOC. IFCO is the Irish Film Classification Office and in today’s event, we got to go into their workplace and rate a short film. This experience was really cool because I felt like it was something I was more familiar with and understood. We got to learn about the different rating systems used in Ireland which were similar to the US but with more categories. These included: G, PG, 12A, 15A, 16 and 18. The Irish film ratings are more based around the people’s age in which they suggest they watch a movie. 16 and 18 rates you need to actually be that age to see that movie in the theater while 15A and 12A you can still watch the movie with supervision even if you were not that age. While we visited, we got to sit in the mini theater, and rated the movie The Golden West. While we were watching this short film we had to keep an eye out for drugs, violence, language and sex. These four things are what they use to gadge what the movie is going to be rated.

IFCO was a short morning and once we got back to the hotel we decided to go to Glendalough National Park which is home to the famous Wicklow mountains. The hike we did around the small lake here was just gorgeous. I was absolutely in awe of the view I got from standing in the water with the mountains touring behind us. I wish we got to have more time to stand in to just take in the views, definitely a place I want to visit again.
