Our first weekend free was a hit, I am so thankful we have time to explore on our own. For our two free days myself and a couple others decide to take the train over to Galway for a couple days. This was our first time taking the train in Ireland and the views on the way there were just beautiful and it super was easy to use.

Our first day there, we explored this new city. Galway definitely seemed to have more emerged Irish culture than Dublin did. There were a lot more people playing music on the streets and the energy overall was just a lot different from Dublin. When we got there, one of the first things we saw was a little flea market that was happening in their downtown park. A lot of locals were selling their homemade crafts and food and were really nice to get to talk too. We then walked down by the port where we saw more swans than I have ever seen in my life. It turns out that Galway is home to a swan rescue, which was pretty cool. After looking around some of the shops they had downtown, we ended our night at O’Connell’s, the bar they filmed Ed Sheeran’s Galway Girl music video in.

The next morning we got up bright and early to take a tour out to the Cliffs of Moher. The cliffs were about an hour and a half drive from Galway and the view on the way up the mountains was one of my favorite views I have seen in the country so far. We took a tour with Lally Tours which was a small non-guided tour taking us right to our final destination. The cliffs of moher were like nothing I’ve seen before in my life. Honestly one of the most beautiful natural landscapes in the world. I was excited especially for this spot because two of my favorite movies were filmed scenes in this location: The Half Blood Prince and The Princess Bride.
