How are we already on day 5?! Today our class had our first day trip out of Dublin to the city of Howth! Today our goal was to visit the Hurdy Gurdy Museum of Radio and to explore this new city. Our first stop, the Hurdy Gurdy Museum, was on the top of this hill with a beautiful view of the water and pier below. The museum itself was an old military building and Sweden’s Most popular Game show was visiting and shooting b-roll while we were there. In the museum, we got to see some of the oldest radios and televisions along with a radio shaped like a coca-cola can! The tour of the museum itself was only about 15 minutes so then we used the rest of our day to explore the city of Howth.

After the museum we headed to lunch. Howth is known for having amazing seafood places, but unfortunately your girl has a shellfish allergy so i got pizza at Howth Market. The Market was quite nice, there were little food shops and vendors where locals were selling some of their creations. I ended up buying four wooden carved magnets to remember my trip from a vendor. Our group then decided to walk on towards the Cliff Walk which was a hike that went up on the cliffs looking over the Irish Sea. This walk was a ton of walking up hills but was so worth it. The views from this walk were just unreal and actually being able to be on the rocks that looked over the water was an experience I will never forget.

After our long walk up the cliffs we walked back to the pier for a boat tour around Irelands Eye. Irelands Eye is an island just off the coast of Howth and is home to multiple different bird populations. The boat tour was probably my favorite part of the day. Not only did we get to see the Island but we saw seals, guillemots which are also called irish penguins, and puffins! Our boat guide told us that Irelands Eye is home to one of, if not the smallest puffin population in the world, averaging about 20 total puffins living there. While we were on the boat we saw four of them and even better we got to see them standing on the rocks, which is something she has not seen since last year. As a puffin lover this was definitely the highlight of my day. After our tour we checked out Claremont Beach just before heading back on the train.
