Traveling is exhausting and I think that people avoid talking about it.
I usually can’t sleep when I’m traveling. In cars or busses, I find it hard to rest my eyes due to the constant sounds, lights, and movement. I don’t know why I expected a plane to be any different. The dark cabin was perfect, but everything else…
Lets just say that I did not fall asleep until midnight after we arrived. Staying up that late was my own doing, I will admit to that. Once I put my phone away and closed my eyes, I was out like a light. Another issue that I have when it comes to sleep is that I have a hard time sleeping somewhere that isn’t my house/ a place that I have been to already. Something about the unfamiliarity, I don’t really know. As I previously stated, that was an issue this go around.
I did, however, feel like I was on the brink of passing out during our lecture. In order to prevent this from happening, I drank some coffee for the first time in years (and instantly regretted it).
The only thing that prevented me from being the rudest zombie in history was the food. It kept me alert and pleasant enough to make it through the rest of the evening. Going to The Brazen Head literally saved my life. I had their Fish and Chips, but I was heavily contemplating the Beef Stew. I would have gotten it if it was not the last thing I had for dinner while I was still in the states. Shout out to my mom for making one of my favorite dishes before I left. The Fish and Chips were good, I have had the meal before so I wasn’t astounded at the concept. The Apple Crisp thing that I had for dessert though. Oh, that made my day.
I hope to find and experience more sweet treats while I was here.
